Getting a pizza right comes down to the temperature of the stone. This infrared thermometer tells you what that temperature is before the pizza goes in.
Point the gun at the stone and the reading shows on the LCD screen. Ideally the stone sits between 350 and 400 degrees celsius, so the pizza cooks quickly from the top and the bottom.
Not all wood burns the same. Some species run hotter than others, so try a few until the stone reaches the temperature you want. Hardwood timber is a better starting point than softer timbers.
