Half your team wants to stand for part of the day, the other half rarely will, and everyone sits in pairs across shared runs. Height adjustable workstations handle that mix well, as long as you know how the desks move, how screens and cables follow them, and how much weight they carry.
This guide covers double-sided sit-stand desks, shared and separate frames, screens, cables, load ratings and run planning, with examples from our height-adjustable workstations range.
How double-sided height adjustable workstations move
A double-sided sit-stand workstation puts two people face to face, each with a desktop that rises and lowers on electric legs. The first question is whether each side moves on its own. If both tops follow one control, the pair has to agree on a height every time.
The AgileMotion+ 3C/2M Electric Rectangle 2-Person Double-sided Desk Workstation (from $1,911) is built on a shared double-sided H-frame, and its page states independent height adjustment for each user. It uses a three-stage dual or triple motor design at 30mm per second, with a 635-1290mm height range and a four-point memory handset.

For a team of four, the BOOST Plus + Electric Height Adjustable X Configuration Workstation with Eco Screens (4 Person) (from $8,030) sets four desks in a cross layout. Each user gets independent dual motor, 3-stage legs that move from 620mm to 1270mm at 38mm per second, with 3 pre-set programmable heights.
Shared frames or separate desks
A shared frame ties both desktops to one base, so the pair takes a single footprint and fewer legs. Separate desks set back to back give each person a complete desk, which is easier to split up or move later.
The BOOST Plus + Electric Height Adjustable Back to Back Workstation (from $1,410) takes the separate route, setting up two height adjustable desks back to back. Its dual motor, 3 stage legs travel at 38mm per second across 620mm – 1270mm, with a 120kg weight loading capacity. It comes with or without a cable tray and with or without a screen.
The Dynamo Plus - Electric Height Adjustable Double Sided Workstation (from $1,351) is a double sided electric standing desk on a dual motor frame. It moves between 620-1270mm at 30 mm/s on 80×50mm rectangular legs and carries 140kg. Its 4 point memory control can also restrict the minimum and maximum height.

Screens that move with the desk or stay put
On a sit-stand run, a screen clamped to a desktop rises and falls with that desk. When facing users sit and stand at different times, that screen only follows one of them. A full-height screen stands on its own instead, so it can stay put while the desks move.
The SHUSH30 Nylon Sliding Bracket to Suit Shush Plus Screens - Set of 2 (Left and Right) ($14) does this for 1200mm and 1500mm full height SHUSH30+ screens. The brackets screw into the workstation tops and fit to the screen extrusions, so the workstation adjusts while the screen is held steadily in place. The price is per set of two, and screens, clamps and fixings are not included.
Other ranges list their own screens. The BOOST Plus X Configuration includes frameless, pinnable Eco screens, but screen clamps are not included and must be purchased separately. The Dynamo Plus range offers 900mm high x 30mm thick screens in 32 colours and 7 sizes. Browse our workstations with screens for runs that include them.
Cable management for moving desks
Cables on a sit-stand desk travel too. Run them through a tray fixed under each desktop, then down to the floor or wall through a flexible link with enough slack for full height. Run each desk to its highest setting once to check the slack before the monitors go on.
The Klass 3C/2M Electric 2-Person Double-sided Desk Workstation (from $1,556) offers an optional integrated cable tray for integrated or segregated cable management. The Dynamo Plus has a reinforced cable tray option with cable segregation, and GPOs can be fitted to the face of the tray. The AgileMotion+ cable tray upgrade comes with mounting brackets and power or data plates, and its softwiring options require installation by a qualified electrician.

The BOOST Plus range lists a cable snake, cable tray bridge, battery pack and Bluetooth control box as add-ons. Its optional portable battery packs allow desk mobility free from GPOs.
Lifting capacity and planning a sit-stand run in an Australian office
Every frame has a rated load, and on these pages it runs from 120kg to 160kg. Add up monitors, arms, screens, trays and anything stored on the desktop, then leave a margin. A heavy setup needs a frame with headroom, not a desk working at its limit.
Compare height ranges carefully. The Klass range of 620-1270mm includes its 25mm worktop, while the other workstation pages here do not say either way. Check clearance above each desk at full height too, including windowsills, shelves and overhead cupboards.
In Australian offices that run hybrid rosters, one sit-stand desk may serve several people a week, so memory presets earn their keep. The Klass runs at an operating noise under 40dB, which suits an open floor. The Dynamo Plus page states its upgraded frame is AFRDI approved. AFRDI, the Australasian Furnishing Research and Development Institute, is an independent body that tests and certifies furniture for Australia and New Zealand.
Deliveries go to the ground-floor entrance, and goods arrive flat-packed unless the page says assembled. The BOOST Plus X Configuration page notes that it requires assembly, so allow time before staff move in. For single sit-stand desks, see our standing desks range and our guide to electric standing desk motors, stages and desk tops.
Height adjustable workstations — frequently asked questions
Can each side of a double-sided standing desk move on its own?
Some can, and the product page should say so. The AgileMotion+ 2-Person page states independent height adjustment for each user, and the BOOST Plus X Configuration gives each of its four users independent dual motor legs.
Do screens move with a height adjustable desk?
A screen clamped to a desktop moves with that desk. A full-height screen can stay in place instead, and the SHUSH30 Nylon Sliding Bracket holds a 1200mm or 1500mm SHUSH30+ screen steady while the workstation adjusts.
How much weight can a sit-stand workstation lift?
The workstations in this guide are rated from 120kg to 160kg. Add up monitors, arms, screens and trays first, and choose a frame with room to spare.
How do you manage cables on a sit-stand workstation?
Fix a cable tray under each desktop and run a flexible link to the floor or wall, with slack for full travel. Several desks here offer integrated trays, and the BOOST Plus range lists a cable snake as an add-on.
